We are fortunate to have several beehives at Nutley Hall. After winter, our beekeeper Michaela discovered that one of the hives was no longer active. When she carefully opened the hive, she found a remarkable structure left behind by the bees — a true piece of natural art.By using square hive boxes with only top bars, rather than full rectangular frames, the bees are given greater freedom to build naturally. This allows their instinctive architectural genius to flourish, creating forms of extraordinary beauty and flow.
The bees have blessed us not only with delicious honey, gratefully enjoyed in all the houses after Lily and Michaela processed it for everyone, but also with beeswax that we can now use in our Candle workshop.
