Within Nutley Hall, seven independent households offer an active ‘family life’, which is shared by residents and residential staff alike, each person contributing according to his or her capacity in the day-to-day running of their home: laying tables, saying grace, cleaning and tidying, welcoming visitors and so on.
Mealtimes are a significant part of the rhythm of each day and often products from our organic and biodynamic garden are included within recipes. Residents also have the opportunity to be involved in cultivation, harvesting, food preparation and composting. These activities provide a meaningful connection with the natural cycle and processes of life and environment; a connection which is central to our ethos.
The approach to cultural life at Nutley Hall is sustained by a belief in the value of friendly social interaction and space for individuality.
